Twelve by Twelve Presents: Colorplay
The Colorplay exhibition features twelve collaborative quilt mosaics, each comprised of twelve, 12 x 12 inch art quilts that reflect a designated colour or palette. The twelve quilters from four countries take center stage for the first time in the Michigan.
Presented in partnership with the American Quilter’s Society and Twelve by Twelve: The International Art Quilt Challenge.
Direct from the Philippines
AQS is pleased to present the Premiere of “Caohagan Way”, with 37 beautiful, hand-made quilts from the Philippines.
Caohagan quilts are handmade, individually created by a single artisan. Each taking from four to six months to complete, these quilts come from the island of Caohagan in the Philippines. Offering vibrant and colorful depictions of everyday life in the tropics, these hand pieced and hand quilted works showcase the artists’ whimsical and freestyle quilts that are unique to Caohagan.
100% Silk Masterpieces
Internationally renowned quilter and textile artist Claudia Pfeil partners with the American Quilter’s Society to showcase a marvelous collection of her work within the United States. Each of the 28 pieces in “The Silk Road Tour” exhibit is made entirely of silk. Visitors will be amazed and the design and skill in these one-of-a-kind masterpieces.
From Germany, Claudia Pfeil worked with AQS to hand-pick her favorite work to tour the United States, beginning at AQS QuiltWeek in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
